causeway |

Setting off on the scooter again, in search of the ferry to Delft Island - the home of wild horses. We reached the small town of Kayts - at the end of the first island, after crossing the causeway from Jaffna.

Chaddy Beach |

Our map had indicated that this was where the ferry departed from - but unfortunately it wasn't. After getting some directions, we headed back south for about 9km towards Chaddy Beach, where we stopped for a break before continuing on. Crossing many more causeways and small islands we reached Kurikadduwan on the western side of one of the outermost islands.

Baobob tree |
The ferry times weren't as scheduled and looking at the time we had remaining that day, it seemed like a long boat ride to give us very little time to explore Delft. With it being so hot, we decided to head back to Jaffna, stopping at one of the oldest Baobob trees in the area.

Jaffna clock tower |
We had a refreshing beer in the shade of the rooftop bar of the Jetwing hotel on our return to town. We bought tickets at the railway station, for the next days journey to Anuradapura, then went to Mango restaurant for a late lunch.
