Renting another scooter (1,000 LKR / day) from a nearby hotel, we set off for Galle. Passing through Marissa and Welligama. We parked right inside the old fort, a small town in itself, and wandered the narrow streets. We did some souvenir shopping at Embark - selling clothing and pet accessories, raising money to improve the well-being of the street dogs of Sri Lanka.

Finding our way out onto the old walls lining the shore, we had good views of the old town from their protective height. The picturesque lighthouse and the Maritime Museum on historic Queen St provided some good photo opportunities.

Returning to the scooter, we headed back along the coast road to Polhena, stopping at Marissa for lunch among the packed tourist shops and hotels. Back at the hotel, we headed to the beach again, which was quieter today as the full-moon holiday was over. We went to a local hot-spot known as The Doctors House, a thriving bar, restaurant and hostel. We took our beer across the road to the beach to watch the sunset, before leaving the lively crowd behind and ate supper at a small café set up on the sand further along the beach.
